Chromic acid anodising

This surface treatment is often used as a pre-treatment for a painting process. For this application it provides better corrosion resistance than chromate conversion. It also has no negative influence on the fatigue resistance of the base material. Moreover, any chromic acid left behind will not attack the base material, unlike sulphuric acid, which makes it an excellent pre-treatment is for aircraft components.
